I have a new church calling

I have been called to serve in the Primary and I want them to take it back. I finally got the manual tonight and found out who my class is. They split the five year-olds, and I have the boys. This isn't why I don't want the calling though. I may have grown up in the Church, but I'm just rebuilding my life within it. I'm trying to meet people in the ward and build a support network down here in Orem. I'm actually enjoying going to Sunday School and Relief Society and making friends with sisters in the ward, and now I've been banished to the Primary. Or at least that's what it feels like. I know what's going to happen though. I'm going to get there on Sunday and look at all those cute little kids and feel completely horrible that I thought for even one second about not wanting the calling. Kids can melt even the grinchiest of hearts like mine!

Congrats on the new calling. I totally know what you mean...I've been in the Primary for over two years now, and I feel like I don't have any friends in the ward - just acquaintances. I don't miss Sunday School so much haha...but I do miss RS. I love RS. My suggestion is - reach out to the other leaders in Primary - other teachers, the Presidency, the music leaders, etc. You can get to know them pretty good. Maybe have a get together with the teachers or something. ;) That might be too much effort. The real key to staying connected with the rest of the ward is - going to activities, like Enrichment, doing Visiting Teaching, ward activities, etc.

That's my unsolicited two sense. ;) All that said - I love the kids in Primary. Warning: With a class full of boys - expect some behavior issues. ;) lol. roll with it. ;) love to ya!

how did it go? i have been in the nursery for the past year and i was not too excited about it when they first called me, but I love it now. i get to eat snacks and play and talk with the other leaders.

make it as fun as you can.... and stay connected with the other sisters in the ward as best you can.
